YOLO COMMUNITY BUILDERS & VertiCAL TINY HOME VILLAGE
California’s homeless crisis points to an urgent need for affordable housing. We work with communities to build cost-effective, permanent housing with ongoing essential support services in a safe, welcoming environment for our unhoused community members. My Vertical Tiny Home Village design is core to this mission as a compact, one-building, permanent supportive housing solution. It provides affordable housing with supportive services, such as ongoing addiction and mental health treatment, case management, and life skills development.
LOCAL
DAVIS, CALIFORNIA
Co-Founder, Architect
Davis Opportunity village & Paul’s Place
A few years ago, I noticed a significant increase in Davis’s unhoused population. As an architect, I wanted to understand the issue better and see how I could help. I co-founded Davis Opportunity Village with like-minded Davis residents to find innovative solutions for our community’s needs. We met weekly, and the Paul’s Place concept—a vertical village in a building combining housing, services, and community support—took shape. I volunteered to design the building, and in 2023, with incredible backing from the community and private donors, Paul’s Place opened its doors.
