ABSTRACT PAINTINGS

My abstract paintings are a type of meditation. I draw from my Chinese painting training from my teenage years in Taiwan, composing elements in a flow-like state. Every painting is a surprise, an emergent result of technique, tools, environment, thoughts, and emotion. While I don’t start with a plan, I can now see patterns and ideas that run through my work: a vernacular of shapes and forms from architecture and landscapes—arches, fields, columns, and space.
