NEVERENDING CITY
As an architect, I work in human-scale construction, a slow, methodical process, translating designs through working drawings and decisions implemented by contractors and skilled craftspeople. I wanted to freely explore design thinking as an infinite, playful building process for this art experiment.
I set three challenges.
1. Select a material—twin wall polycarbonate sheets—that can form large-scale sculptural elements I can move and manipulate myself: no scissor lifts, heavy machinery, or construction crew is required.
2. Devise a building system that allows for infinite play and variation.
3. Incorporate light and color.
