CARS THAT CONNECT

NeIGHBORHOOD ELECTRIC VEHICLES (NEVS)

When I met Dan Sturges in the 90s at UC Davis’ iconic annual event, Picnic Day, demonstrating his incredible electric car design, little did I know it would begin a decades-long friendship and collaboration. Dan’s vision for clean, quiet, human-scale electric cars that accommodate people, not the other way around, was, and is, ahead of his time.

His ideas energized my architectural thinking, and we began to work together to imagine how architecture can invite small electric cars inside the home, removing the urban tyranny of large-scale, gas-powered cars, from parking lots to garages to miles of pavement.

I applied this idea to my concept, Rolltown, in Dan’s 2023 book, Near To Far, envisioning a neighborhood without traditional cars. Read more about Rolltown.
