Volumetric House
Interlocking volumes with complimentary claddings bely soaring interiors.
This house is located at the end of a cul-de-sac, in the middle of a typical developer-design subdivision. The exterior is composed of five interlocking 'abstract' forms. Each form is rendered in one of five different materials and/or color combinations. Inside, all the public program composes a single internally continuous void. The complex plan and variable ceiling height within this void creates an extremely open interior, despite a relatively compact site. The house also serves as a complete home-office; outside the study window there is an integrated 1/2 basketball court, intended for mid-workday contemplation.
