This project is a $1.5 million addition / renovation of the largest cooperative food store in the western United States. Its architecture enacts an abstract formal language, consistent with the historical development of modernism. Symbols from the cooperative movement represent the store's leadership role: colored 'rainbow' skylights, a 'twin pines' produce wall, vibrant exterior colors, a 70s flower mural, metal and wood dining patios, a community 'friendly' site plan, five outdoor art pedestals, a community conference room, and an 'edible' landscape.
